  I have the Sima SL-20IR Video Light but its just not cutting it, anyone have any other IR that might help me out thats not to pricey?

  I just ordered a couple from Paul Bradford (of GHI) over at http://cgh.minnesotaghosts.com . He custom builds them and they are $35.00 each. Ilike the idea of being able to just change the 9 volt battery if needed. If you order any you may have to wait a few weeks though, I think he's currently out filming GHI episodes. Hope this helps. Here are the specs:
  
  10hrs+ on a single 9V batter
  4 triple high power infrared LEDs
  IR beam 35ft+
  850nm/30 degree viewing angle
  Requires 1x 9v battery

  Thank you man,

  After i pay for my FRA class, ill be sure to get some, i need some high powered IR lights, the simas just dont have enough light to really pick up much on my camcorder as of right now

  I'm not sure yet if they throw more IR light than Simas do. I heard that they are as good or better but what I really like is the idea that I can just pop in a new 9 volt battery if I need to. When I was at the Houghton Mansion recently, both of my Sima lights were immediately drained of battery power. I was lucky that I brought along my back-up Sony IR light. I'm going to try to design & build my own IR lights too.

  I've had really good luck with the 20IR's myself on my handhelds - don't forget they can be daisychained together for more power if you are in a big area.

  I am going to try Bradford's lights on my next investigation. The drop lights put out a lot of light but it seems a little focused (the newer version with the frosted bulbs claims to fix this).

  For my stationary cams we are still experimenting with light sizes from 48 leds to 120 to find out what gives the most bang for the buck. I haven't had the chance to try the Phantom Lite yet but look forward to getting one to try.

  There is a new IR Illuminator added to the Creepy Hollow store thats essentially a flood light, it'll spread an even, smooth illumination of IR ideal for large rooms. I know that they have been used by a TV production company too.

  Bob, IR lights are made for use with IR sensitive cameras. That would include many Sony Camcorders, cameras converted to full or multi-spectrum, and DVR type cameras with night vision. There are some other brands of camcorder out there that us IR technology, but I don't know of any digital still camera that uses it right out of the box.

  I have a Sony Digital Still camera that has Night shot DSC-H9 as for other still cameras Im not sure
