  I have a Sony IC recorder, model # ICD-UX71 and I love it. I got a good deal on Amazon after reading review after review. Quality is good, I use a setting that wears out the battery quicker but picks up every little sound with minimal "fuzz." I have not had any EVP's yet but I know that this recorder will pick up great ones when it happens!

  Love it! I'd recommend it to all!

  thanks for this information. we are going to be purchasing some new equipment soon,and any good advice on what to get helps me out a lot. plus i'd rather trust someones opinion on here given the nature of what i want this equipment to accomplish.

  It was fairly cheap too, compared to super fancy ones. About, $70.
  The only thing that I wish was different was the size of the data screen, it's a bit tiny. But otherwise great product.

  I am using this Sony ICD-PX720. Seems to work pretty well and the batteries last for a long time.

  I use an Olympus WS210 when I got mine it was around $200 but I seen them on amazon for about $80 we also have several RCA recorders we sell at walmart for $35 we use for the DVR camera audio

  Zoom H2 is the way to go! The H1 is due out soon as well. Also a Sony PCM-M10 is nice. These are high end recorders and will cost from $130 -$300, but are well worth the investment.

  I have an Olympus VN-4100, got it a the shack for under 20 bucks and it seems to work rather well for the times I have used it.

  I totally understand and respect the fact that not all budgets can afford the higher end recorders. Trust me, my salary cant either. I have started a "mad money" fund of my own, saving my change and stashing a couple dollars here and there to use for equipment that I want. I have simply come to learn that a higher quality recorder will yield LESS EVP's but almost all will be class "A" when you do get one.

  That's very interesting. I wonder if the low-end ones yield more EVPs due to the increased background noise? Might be a good idea/test then to run two of them at the same time if possible, a high-end one and a low-end one. Then, if they happen to catch the same EVP, compare them for quality?

  Precisely. Maybe the noise cancelling function helps.

  Does anyone know why my screen reads DPC-30% when in playback mode? I'm not sure how that got there, it was never there before. My model is listed in the first post. Thanks! I'm stumped and of course can't locate my manual.
