Hi there,
Can anyone recommend certain EMF detectors to use? I'm in the market. ;-)
The tri-field meter seems to be the way to go with EMF detection. Most other sensing devices, including, Cell-Sensor, ELF Zone, K-II etc are affected by artificial sources too often giving false impressions of activity. The Tri-field doesn't seem to be affected by these sources. As most investigators have learned, the digital type meters can be affected by cellular phones, walkie-talkies, short wave radio. They were originally designed for those thinking that they may be affected by high EMF being radiated from sources such as CRT screens, computers and microwave ovens. While they can alert the investigator to possible sources of EMF, they are limited in their capabilities. Another point would be the affect of low batteries in these devices. In a nutshell....when using them for investigation, do not rely on them as a sole means of detection....do your homework, look for all possible outside sources and always, ALWAYS get a second opinion from another reputable investigator.
Personally I quickly found out that my favorites were the ones with their own light source. Shining a flashlight at an EMF meter (did anyone watch Ghost Hunter Academy this week? Totally clumsy) ruins your night vision. I'm still trying several different ones so I'm not sure which is best, but am getting real attached to my K2 for just this reason.

Hi Shara,
Personally, I like the Mel-8704 meter family. There are several different flavors available to suit your needs. Mine does EMF and Temp simultaneously or fast EMF tracking. It has a built in LED flashlight (handy on stairways) and also has a record feature that shows the min & max values. I think it cost around a hundred dollars on Amazon. I may get another one that also has a built in KII feature. Hope that this helps......Clint
I went with your recommendation to Shara and just bought my own Mel Meter. I wanted the one with the K-II but I didn't want to pay that price - so I got the regular one which cost $93.00
